Heading for Home

It's been a few days since I've posted.  Jo Ann and I are back in Bucharest planning for our last week in Paris, France.  We are ending the sabbatical with a little rest and relaxation before heading home to Fort Myers.  We are very excited about returning home and getting back to work in the mission field there in southwest Florida with our friends at Zion Lutheran.  We have so much to share about our adventure and experiences both in German and Romania.  Plans are to provide some quality time to share the sabbatical journey for those of you who are interested to learn how this experience has helped us to grow personally and in our lives and mission as disciples of Christ.  Most of my time was spent observing and learning.  In Germany, it was learning more about the life of the great reformer Luther and German musiscians that had an impact on the music that shaped our hymns.  Also, we observed and learned about the new Confessional Lutheran Mission Churches in Romania that are connected to the Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod.

Big thank you to Pastor Hank Simon, Assisting Minister Tim Richter, the entire Zion staff including our Early Childhood Center, along with our Executive Board and volunteer leaders for keeping things moving and growing while we have been away.  Thank you Pastor Hank for that very uplifting August newsletter article about how God continues to bless the people and ministry at Zion.  And very special thanks for being such a wonderful team player.  Please pray for our safe return and for the Lord's leading as we continue to work together to reach out to those in our world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Below are pictures of special people we have met over here in Europe during our journey.  Such a pleasure to make new friends.

"Where's Pastor?"

Answer:  He's winding down with his bride Jo Ann for his last sabbatical week of the summer.  The next time you hear from him will be in person.  Thank you for your thoughts and prayers as we prepare to return home.  See you next week!

Luther Quote of the Day

“Grant that I may not pray alone with the mouth; help me that I may pray from the depths of my heart.”

Mountain Climbing

First, we went to the mountains to ride the zipline!  Today we took a slightly challenging climb up one of the Carpathian mountains.  The mountains look to be between the Rockies and the Appalachian in size and height.  I haven't Googled it, so that's just a guesstimate. What more can I say, the mountains are just breathtaking. We had a great family day together.  In the family picture are the Bangs, the Niculescus and grandpa and grandma Apetrei!  Jo Ann and I are the ones taking their picture.  Enjoy!
