We were invited to a Romanian Orthodox festival yesterday in our suburb or parish. Many of the outlying towns not only in Suceava are named after the churches in their area. We are in the area called St. Elijah which is the same name given to the church. Anyway, the festival included a goodie bag and people singing old Romanian folk songs and hymns. The main speaker at this festival was a man who wrote the history of the St. Elijah's Orthodox Church. The mayor of Suceava was also there to award the university professor who authored the book some kind of an award or recognition. The church is so small inside the the majority of the folks who attended, including us, watched it on a big screen in the church yard. Very interesting social and cultural experience. Enjoy the pictures.
