A couple of days ago, I posted a picture of where I was, which was in the city park and the old town square where all kinds of activities and events happen daily. Right now, there is a main stage set up in the park and open street performances done in the square. Also, in the square there are large tents set up housing the traveling book fair. The fair has been here for a week and the selection of books is remarkable. Unfortunately, all of them are written in Romanian! Go figure!
The first photo was a picture of a large truck that converts into a stage. The side of the truck folds out to create the stage and the lights and the backdrop are all connected to the interior of the truck so that it all folds back into the truck. Kind of like a modern day caravan. The production that was performed was called Pinocchio. Maybe you've heard of it? Even though it was performed in the Romanian language, the expressions and animation of the actors made it very easy to follow the story line.
So, who was the couple that posed in front of the backgroud of the mountain with the name of the city posted at the top? This is an LCMS missionary couple who also live in Brasov whose names are Dr. David and Jenny Preus. They have eight children who are receiving their education online with their mother's support and one more is on the way. He is a professor of theology who is teaching many different subjects online that are needed for men to become pastors in various places throughout Europe. He is a walking and breathing seminary for these men. He also participates and supports St. Mary Lutheran Church by assisting with worship when he is available. David is a very remarkable man of God and a gift to the church. I knew of his father years ago, Pastor Rolf Preus, just in case any of you are wondering how he is related into the Preus family.
I'm going to give away where Jo Ann and I will be tomorrow. We will be on a bus and a train all day making our way to our final destination here in Romania. We hope to arrive safely in Suceava tomorrow evening. We are looking forward to staying with some former members from Trinity Lutheran in Fergus Falls and very dear friends, Lorisa and Jesse Bangs who have willingly opened their hearts and home to us. So, it will be a couple of days before we are settled in to our new digs for me to send add another blog page to this site. In the meantime, here are some pics for you to enjoy.
Oh yeah, I have also posted a picture of Matthias and me holding up a fan scarf in front of the television celebrating the victory of his favorite Romanian soccer team Sepsi! I found it ironic that the opposing team had Pepsi as one of their sponsors on their shirts. Pepsi vrs. Sepsi?! Actually, this game was Romania's Championship game for their country. Sepsi are the new champions! This team is one that I shared with you on earlier post. They are located here in the area of Brasov! Go Sepsi!
"Where's Pastor?!"
