Today, we visited a town in Romania called Gura Humorului. On our way into town I saw a welcome sign that said Smiling City. Our friend told us that the name of the town literally translates into English as "humorous mouth." How funny is that? lol
While in Gura Humorului, we visited Humor Monastary. No kidding, that was the one of the names given to it. When you look at the pictures below you may think that you have already seen this monastary. Many of the monastaries we have seen in this area have only about two or three differrent styles of of achitechtural designs used to build them. Not all of them have been renovated and restored as this one has. These churches provide services on a daily basis and are still in use. The monastaries are taken care of by either monks or nuns. This particular monastary was run by mons and has been revovated and updated on the inside and a couple of the walls on the outside as well.
So, the second half our our day was spent at the Arisini Adventure Family Park in that same town. We took a ski lift to the top of the mountain and went up to the top of a tower with an observation deck to get a great view of the city of Gura Humorului and the mountains surrounding it on all sides. Enjoy the pictures.
