Wittenberg in the Round - Panorama Experience

Welcome back everyone.  So, yesterday we asked again, "Where's Pastor?"  Pastor Curtis was actually in the church yard of St. Mary's Town Church. The images are of Chapel of Corpus Christi (Fronleichnamskapelle) built in 1368 in the brick Gothic style. It was destroyed and rebuilt in 1456.  It was from here in 1518 that Martin Luther had appealed to Pope Leo X to set up a coucil to hear the case against him as a heretic.  Until 1722, the primary use of this chapel was for funeral services. The families and friends would come to the services and their loved one would be buried in the cemetery yard between the Town Church and the chapel.  From 1913 to 1928 the chapel was used as the Wittenberg Museum to inform visitors of the local history.  Today, Corpus Christi Chapel is used regularly by the congregation of Town Church for prayer and is also used by the Wittenberg English Ministry to provide worship opportunities for visitors in the English language twice a week from May to October.

Yesterday, those who attended the Wittenberg English devotional service were people from Scotland and Denmark and today people we met were from Texas, Colorado, Bavaria Germany and Papau New Guinea.

My wife and I went to see the Luther Panoramic by Asisi here in Wittenberg.  This is a new experience here in Wittenberg. This famous artist Asisi, captured the history of the reformation in full panoramic art form.  You can actually experience the reformation in a full picturesque view in this 360 degree panorama theater.  Wearing a headset, you veiw scenes of the reformation while the narrator explains what you are viewing.  What a wonderful way to experience the history of the reformation.

We ended the day gathering with some of the locals who grew up here who know the current history of Wittenberg since they grew up here. The depth of the history in this place is incredible.  Names and history of people going back not just decades, but for centuries.

Luther Quote of the Day

"God doesn't love us because of our worth, we are of worth because God loves us."

Enjoy some more of the images from yesterday and some from today.  More tomorrow!

Where's Pastor?

Please respond with your guess where Pastor Curtis has been today.  Do you know the name of this church and what it is famous for?
