Confessional Lutheran Church in Romania - #2

The second of several Confessional Lutheran Churches we are visiting here in Romania is The St. Mary Lutheran Church in Brasov. The Pastor of this church is the Rev. Dr. Sorin Trifa born here in Brasov.  He has been called to be the Pastor of this new church as a National Missionary of the Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod.  I met Pastor Trifa about four years ago through Messenger video chat following a recommendation of friends of mine living in Romania.  It was then that I discovered that he received his Master of Divinity degree from Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  He was also ordained into the Missouri Synod and now serves as a National Missionary.  A National Missionary is one who has been born and raised in the country to which they are called to serve as a missionary in the LCMS.  Another LCMS missionary living in Brasov, Rev. David Preus, serves as a professor of theology for those who are training to become pastors here in Romania and the Baltic Region. More about his work tomorrow.

Pastor Trifa has shown me the new property that is being renovated for the new church to worship in.  We will be worshiping at a church space on Sunday they have been using for the past several years. The pictures posted yesterday show some of the new space they are working on.  They started in March to renovate and hope to be using their new space by August or September.

We also got to enjoy seeing more of the sites in and around Brasov such as their local professional soccer feild, a veiw of the city from the top of one of the small mountains that surround it along with some more shots of the older part of the city.  Brasov used to be a fortress centuries ago and had an entire wall built around the city.  Much of it is still there to this day. You will see a couple of those pics as well. Enjoy!

"Where's Pastor?!"
